Honoring Award Recipients

Cardinal Newman Medal
Joan Felts, Ph.D., RN

The Cardinal Newman Medal is conferred upon those who demonstrate in their daily life an appreciation of the spirit and ideals of the Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman and who have been instrumental in the growth and development of the University.  It is the highest honor bestowed by the Newman University Board of Trustees.

The Spirit of Acuto Transformational Leadership Award
Ami M. Angell, Ph.D., LLM '99

This award honors alumni and friends who, as a reflection of their association with Newman University, have been a driving force, using their talent and training at critical junctures to move a vision to reality.

The Leon A. McNeill Distinguished Alumna Award
Clare Vanderpool '87

 The Leon A. McNeill Distinguished Alumni Award is presented by the National Alumni Association and honors graduates who have achieved outstanding success in their professional lives.

The Beata Netemeyer Service Award
John R. Pyles, M.D. '76

 This award, named for the first provincial of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, honors alumni who display deep loyalty to the mission and values of Newman University. 

The St. Maria De Mattias Award

Mary Green Shults '37
Dorothy Vossen Adams '37

This award, named for the foundress of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, honors alumni who display a deep loyalty to Newman University and its mission.  The award recipient has given meritorious and continuous support and stewardship to Newman University and Catholic life.  It is the highest honor bestowed by the Newman University National Alumni Association.
